#Macaroni and cheese with milk and eggs mac#
Delicious! If you're used the the slimy-oozy kind of mac 'n' cheese then you might not like it, but in my mind this is REAL mac 'n' cheese-and you don't have to make a cheese sauce! I left out the cayenne and mustard for a more traditional flavor, but used sharp white cheddar. This is the only "solid" mac 'n' cheese recipe I've found. I remember the first time I had boxed mac as a kid, I was so disappointed! When my mom made macaroni and cheese casserole it was always cut with a knife and served in squares. This is what baked macaroni and cheese is meant to be.

Suggested adding even more of these and at leastĭoubling the amount of cheese. Very disappointed in this recipe - even afterĪdding more of the mustard, cayenne, worcesterĪnd evaporated milk, this was still bland. I would make this again with fewer eggs though. For those who object to the blandness of this dish - give my grandma's trick a try - it adds oodles of flavor. My grandma baked hers with dollops of ketchup on top, now I can't eat it any other way. Served as part of a selection of appetisers for Easter Sunday lunch. I also used mozzarella and monterey jack cheeses as well.īaked with a few slices of semi-dried tomatoes on top. I used different noodles and it still came out wonderful. I thought it was delicious but the 2nd time i mad it i made bacon and sprinkled it on top and it made it even better!ĭelicious! Made it for Christmas and it was gone by the end of the night. It's not creamy, the eggs and milk make it more like a mac n cheese custard but my family loves it and it's an easy weeknight meal. I've made it exactly as directed, and the second time I added more Worcestershire and cayenne. This is a delicious and easy way to have mac n cheese without making a white sauce. Very good recipe but has anyone noticed that it doesnt tell you what to do with the two cans of condensed milk? I figured it out but just sayin'. And maybe some Spam :) We liked the casserole-like consistency it's definitely not the creamy variety. Like the others said: Needs More Flavor! More Worcestershire and mustard and cheese. Next time, I will leave this out, use a more conventional mustard, or just use a very little bit. However, here in the time of pandemic, I had only Gulden's Spicy Brown Mustard, and maybe that was just too much. I liked everything about this, except the mustard.
